THETA FLEET NEWS
November 11, 2025
Happy Veteran's Day, Armistice Day, and Remembrance Day,
depending on where you live.
Armistice Day marks the anniversary
of the end of major hostilities of WWI
on the 11th hour, 11th day, and 11th month of 1918.
Now that day has been set aside to honor military veterans
and remember their sacrifices for our freedom.
We thank all those who served in militaries across the globe.
Don't forget: thank a Vet.

UNIT OF DISTINCTION
Task Force 23
Gold: Deep Space 5 & USS Hecate
Silver: USS Ark Royal & USS Thunderbird
Bronze: USS Eclipse
Area 51
Gold: USS Myogi & USS Pioneer & USS Tokyo
Silver: USS Astrea & Starbase 109 & USS Valkyrie & USS Missouri
Bronze: USS Herodotus & Stargate
WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: USS Ark Royal: CastofDozens & USS Hecate: Vincent Salvatore
Ark Royal: CastofDozens, who plays Chief Navigator David Erickson. He has taken the task of writing the noncorporeal being that is visiting the ship during the Halloween party, and so far the interactions have been excellent!
Hecate: Commander Vincent Salvatore – Voz has contributed a lot to the Hecate over October, generating posts and jumping in with existing posts to create great threads to latch on to.
Area 51: USS Astrea: Alex & USS Pioneer: Kolok & USS Valiant: Zuub
Astrea: Alex continues to showcase her strong writing and is particularly adept at working in emotional turmoil and conflict into this mostly Vulcan character. This mission provided medical with a lot of opportunity and she and her CMO have definitely ran with it in ways that will make it interesting and involve others down the line.
Pioneer: Lieutenant Kolok - Our Chief Operations Officer is always ready to step in with the knowledge of technobabble. This is not babble for babble's sake. These tags always make sense and sound as if they are not fictional. This is a hard task to accomplish in my opinion. They also stepped in and assisted with a plot point that the GMs were stuck on figuring out. A truly great writer.
Valiant: Dr. Zuub, again shows more of their bedside manner and nature as a doctor as the spies of the Valiant deal with the denizens of Avan’s Colony. As usual it’s the colonist’s fault for voicing their own emotional issues and nearly getting into a fist fight with the good doctor.
So much fun!
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Deep Space 5: Cara and Curtis & USS Thunderbird: Ayryn Trynn
Deep Space 5: My XO and 2XO have been invaluable in helping come up with creative ways to cause mayhem with the animals running amok on the station. They have also helped me add threads from two other sims in the fleet which have resulted in some interesting cross-sim posts. I not only love the creativity, but it's a great transition from the seriousness of the battle of DS5.
Thunderbird: Lt. Ayryn Trynn's writer -- can't give the reasons here because the crew might read this -- but the writer's been doing an amazing job behind the scenes. Been wonderful to brainstorm with Ayryn's writer.
Area 51: Stargate: Lyudmila & Valkyrie: Cynthia
Stargate: Major Lyudmila “Mila” Sorokina’s arrival has brought renewed energy and enthusiasm to the game. Her writing captivates both current and returning players, inspiring deeper engagement and creativity across the board. With her dynamic character, strong presence, and infectious excitement, Mila has quickly become a driving force—making her an excellent choice for Player of the Month.
Valkyrie: As nominated by Shep – playing LTJG. Ryan Kellerman
Cynthia – playing Lt. Niami Troga
“Niami dove in with head-first when it came to estranged husbands, Ryan Kellerman and Darius Korveth--taking both under her guidance as counselor and going the extra mile to meet them both on their terms. She has also proven instrumental in helping to prepare and assist the Captain with the current mission, not to mention a proactive therapist with Julianna's sudden departure. Niami Troga has proven over and over again that she is the glue that holds the Valkyrie together.”
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: USS Artemis
"A Person of Interest Part I" (https://artemis.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/325)
This post is an interesting exchange between two people who are new to each other's lives. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Area 51: USS Crazy Horse & USS Orcrist
Crazy Horse: "The Night Has a Voice of Its Own" (https://crazyhorse.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/84)
Raz, the CO of the Crazy Horse, recently lost his ship and his "Ex" (now Chief of Operations) is trying to reconnect with him after a disastrous engagement (she dumped him for duty and her father had him beaten and thrown off world). What's interesting is writing as Caitians and trying not to have them turn out to be humans with fur.
Orcrist: "Certainly the Most Memorable Check-in Parts I and II"
I found this post between the CMO and the Chief Diplomat entertaining and delightful. This certainly was a great start and a challenge for our new Diplomatic Officer to be swept in to the panorama of our CMO's homelife. Definitely an insight into both characters. I am looking forward to be seeing more of them.

On July 28th, 2009 the first alien scout ships flew through the skies of earth. The next day, the first wave of weapons fire hit several major areas across the world, followed by several explosions in the skies, then the attacks ended.
For the next decade, the world took the time to repair and rebuild what was lost. The United Earth Organization was formed.
Only then did the United States and Russian governments divulge the Stargate technologies and the alien ancient outpost that fought back the extraterrestrial threat, opening a new era of exploration through the Stargate.
Stargate: A New Legacy is an existing sim, but there's still room for those who seek adventure. Find the link in Area 51 under SIMS.

Gold: USS Tokyo & USS Missouri & USS Myogi
Silver: USS Astrea & USS Valiant & USS Crazy Horse

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Deep Space 5: David
Deep Space 5: David, who plays our ACMO, a flight doctor, and a tailor. He's jumped into posts with his PC and NPCs, getting involved in various aspects of the current missions. He's finding ways to meet most of the crew and, with the current mission, making us all laugh with his characters' encounters with our animal escapees.
Area 51: Ontario: Kat & Valiant: Amy
Ontario: Kat, who plays both Xavier and Tox. The two characters have been pen pals for fifteen years, and now they're falling for each other on the ship. Both feel conflicted and keep going to others for advice. Watching the relationship develop has been a lot of fun, and the characters are well-written and engaging. Kat is an excellent writer who has brought most of the crew into this budding relationship, which has all of us cheering for them in and out of character.
Valiant: Lieutenant Amy Gordon. Posts that stand out, give a giggle and create a reference the writers will likely use in the future are fun. Even more so than mission posts, the small interactions with crew mates over something as silly as a suspect box of Twinkies sticks in your mind and bring that important humor to a SIM. I appreciate Gordon's writer's efforts in this regard.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Unicorn: Ieu
Unicorn: Ieu as Commander Saul Whitford for continuing to be one of the finest first officers in the fleet. I can’t do it alone, and I’m grateful every day to have him as my XO and resource to lean on.
Area 51: SB109: Chantal/Commander Paul Graves & Astrea: Shep
SB109: Chantal/Commander Paul Graves
Reason: Chantal has been an asset to the sim for thirteen years and has always been a very effective player, even while juggling sim life with real life and school life. She recently jumped a big hurdle with her studies by passing a very difficult test and we are all very proud of her! She is a hard-working and dedicated person, and that deserves to be celebrated!
Astrea: Shep/Jean-Baptiste Dorsainvil, He’s a consistent force in the sim, continuing to come up with new ideas for stories and is always willing to write with others who are looking to expand their own character. In addition to being a driving force behind keeping our sim active, he’s also been doing some behind the scenes work: keeping our mission timeline with relevant posts linked, and developing an archive for Astrea’s mission posts on our Wiki.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal
Ark Royal: “A Message of Peace and Friendship” (https://arkroyal.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/73)
Area 51: Crazy Horse & Herodotus & Pioneer
Crazy Horse: "The Weight of Survival" by Ensign Kaelun Merak and Lieutenant Richard Pierce, M.D. (https://crazyhorse.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/98
Herodotus: "Embers We Carry" - As I have said numerous times over the years the most interesting posts are the ones that show us the people behind the heroics. This is truer on a sim where the crew is constantly together with no contact with anyone as their mission is classified at the highest levels. This post shows us two people who simply are getting to know each other in what is their new normal. (https://herodotus.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/137)
Pioneer: "Silent No More Part I" This post had every writer on the sim. Some people writing multiple characters. It is a multi-faceted assault on an enemy. Usually, large posts like this can get confusing. However, this one flows so well it was hard to find a spot to split it. (https://uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/1845)

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Hecate: Shep
Hecate: Shep as Gideon Beauregard – an exceptional writer with a well-crafted turn of phrase whatever the situation. Shep is a pleasure to write with, and makes this all look very easy.
Area 51: Valiant: Zuub & Valkyrie: JS
Valiant: Lieutenant Commander Zuub is my nominee for writer of the month. Sometimes you only need to go to sick bay (at least aboard the Valiant) to meet strange new people. The writer’s take on the Andorran doctor serving aboard the Valiant is unique and definitely reminds me of a box of chocolate. When you talk to them, you never know what you’re going to get.
Valkyrie: JS, playing LTJG Christian Rogers. JS came aboard near the end of the mission but definitely made his characters presents felt.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal: Jan & Fenrir: Ren
Ark Royal: Jan
Jan, who plays Counselor Annika Johnson. Jan writes some of the best counselor characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of engaging with. In August, she led the writing of two excellent posts, one in which she helped Captain T’Kal after the disastrous combat drill and one in which she sought aid for her own mental well-being.
Fenrir: Riaothren (Ren) ch'Shaorhs has been amazing this month, pushing the posts he is part of and kept missions flowing. Ren’s establishing to be one of the ‘characters to watch’ when it comes to writing, as well as just being engaging.
Area 51: Astrea: Alexandra Blackstone & Crazy Horse: StarDuster & Orcrist: Cade
Astrea: Alexandra Blackstone, she continues to be a great leader in the sim, coming up with new ideas for posts and looping in other writers, and helping me stay focused when I’ve needed a little extra help.
Crazy Horse: StarDuster for his help in creating the banner and applying the theme (which apparently took some tweaking). And for always being there to answer questions and talk over ideas.
Orcrist: Rynna Csira and Cadence Tyree: The players behind these characters have leapt in and been an invaluable help not only behind the scenes but also being talented in their writing as well. I have enjoyed having them on the sim.

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Artemis & Deep Space 5
Artemis: Lieutenant Commander Corin Layal - The ship's prosecutor returns to their homeworld, has a major trial in progress, and is offered a new position that would change their life. Just another day for her.
Deep Space 5: Chris. As our Klingon Ambassador and Marine CO, Chris helped wrap the Battle of DS5, the capture of Hydel Turvan, and the debate over who got to take Turvan back for trial. This story has gone on for a very long time, due in great part to RL and departures of several key players. Chris helped tie all the loose ends and finally bring closure to the mission.
He also was part of a series of posts with the CO that sparked the creation of an in-character weekly chat about the happenings on the station.
Area 51: Ontario & Valkyrie
Ontario: Kat. Since joining the sim, Kat has been actively writing with everyone on the sim. She has also created a fascinating subplot with her PC and NPC being pen pals who have fallen in love with each other. They don't know they're on the same ship, but several of the crew have figured it out. It's been a delightful read, and everyone has enjoyed getting involved with the two.
Valkyrie: Lt. Urushi Yaotome - Will
Even though there was a lot of different aspects to the post being worked. His interactions, plot twist, and how it is being played has added even more depth and opportunities for character development not only for his character but others as well.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal & Eclipse
Ark Royal: CastofDozens, both for his work in clearing the engineering post with Will and CalypsoSkyie, but importantly also for starting and rapidly finishing with me an excellent post called “Autopsy”, in which his character David Erickson, as T’Kal’s former junior officer on a previous posting, reversed their relationship and was able to help her learn from her mistakes.
Eclipse: Lieutenant Jaina Zalla (Esther). Esther has truly been a powerhouse player on the Eclipse since she joined. She stays in contact with the command team and everyone she writes with and always has ideas on how to add small improvements to what's going on.
Area 51: Myogi & Pioneer
Myogi: Lori. Lori has been making more of an effort to be involved in "main story" posts that involve the entire crew. I'm proud that she's more often stepping outside of her comfort zone, which deserves recognition.
Pioneer: The XO of the Pioneer Lieutenant Colonel Cornelius Tremble. The XO has planned and is in the process of carrying out a complete battle plan to save a planet. This plan is complete with maps and images for people to envision the enemies. This kind of attention to detail is not only unheard of but it helps make the story richer and completes the world that the Pioneer exists in.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Fenrir & Hecate
Fenrir: It’s a 4 part post (originally 1 part but we broke it up). It is a whole crew party post, showcasing the various characters in a social setting, namely the launch party. "Welcome to the Wolfpack" (https://fenrir.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/131) (https://fenrir.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/160) (https://fenrir.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/161) (https://fenrir.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/162)
Hecate: "A Gentleman and a Vulcan" (https://hecate.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/81)
Area 51: Herodotus & Jane Addams & Wolff
Herodotus: "A Temporal Recovery on Deep Space Five" (https://herodotus.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/134)
(A great post that shows what a day in the life of the crew of the Herodotus could look like.)
Jane Addams: My choice this month is the one where the Jane Addams receives her death blows at the hands of the Borg. "The Battle of Arcturus" (https://www.janeaddams.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/71)
Wolff: "Heal, Rinse, Repeat" (https://www.usswolff.com/nova2/index.php/sim/viewpost/733)

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Calypso: Arie & Thunderbird: Ayryn Trynn
Calypso: Arie, our XO. His character has a quick wit and a humor that hides behind his calm demeanor. At the same time, he is considerate and thoughtful while remaining pragmatic. He can be the calm in a storm and a voice of reason when things get chaotic. He and his character are invaluable to the sim.
Thunderbird: Lt. Ayryn Trynn -- It's not easy stepping up from Counselor to acting head of Sickbay but Ayryn's writer is doing a great job of filling the gap.
Area 51: Arcadia: Ruth Madeley-Willis & Valkyrie: Cynthia
Arcadia: Ruth Madeley-Willis - Part of my group of writers for several years now, Ruth has done a lot with her Arcadia character of Lieutenant Adrianna Baciami. She has been exceptional in writing her character given Arcadia's current predicament.
Valkyrie: Cynthia aka Cara – playing Lieutenant Niami Troga
In the short time she has been on the Valkyrie Cynthia has been an enthusiastic player. Her writing is descriptive, imaginative and allows you to get a real feel for the character.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal: CastofDozens, Ieu, and Heyho & Unicorn: Major Iria
Ark Royal: Joint nominations of CastofDozens, Ieu, and Heyho, for their positive engagements over the past month on our discord. The USS Ark Royal discord is a place that my crew want to visit and socialize, and that's a good thing.
Unicorn: Major Iria for continuing to be a fantastic player, pushing our medical section with Dr. Coleman and inspiring others to be their best in the sim.
Area 51: Astrea: Shep/Jean-Baptiste & Tokyo: Matt C.
Astrea: Shep/Jean-Baptiste: JB has hit the sim at a full-on sprint despite not being officially on the ship yet. Not only has he written so many beautiful posts bringing his own character to life and introducing a host of his own NPCs to our world, he’s jumped in with temporary NPCs to fill needs inside ongoing posts writing injured survivors of a crash and Nausicaan thugs brokering deals on Freecloud. Also, he was the force behind recruiting our newest player, Josef, and is bringing some new life to our sim not just with his own creative energy but with new blood. I’ve heard from several players how happy they are to have him with us.
Tokyo: Matt C - Matt has been putting on a lot of effort as chief on Intel. Putting in additional research and effort to get little details correct. Although some may find getting the little things correct unnecessary, I see it as someone who's proud of their work and wanting it to all make sense.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: USS Artemis & Deep Space 5 & USS Hecate
Artemis: The post of the month for the Artemis is a two part post. To fully understand the story in the post both parts should be read, and so I have nominated both posts. "Resonance Part I" (https://artemis.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/306)

We are pleased to welcome two established sims to Theta Fleet.
The Pioneer is the Flagship of Area 51 and takes place 11 years after the destruction of Mars. The sim is set in and around the Cardassian Union. The Pioneer first assisted in the rebuilding of a people decimated by war. Now, they stand ready to help as refugees come pouring in from the other side of the galaxy in the aftermath of the Romulan disaster.
The USS Valiant is technically assigned to Federation Intelligence; but things are more complicated than that. Within FI, they work for the Department of Operational Analysis. Because of this, Valiant is not bound to one area in the galaxy. Valiant may be a small ship with a small crew, but the need for her is great.

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Calypso: Stuart & DS5: Terrie
Calypso: Stuart, who writes Bela, our Risian counselor. She's been busy this month with new crew and a new mission. She's a great counselor who has to hug everyone, but she has problems when it comes to combat. This month, she had to dea8l with both. Perhaps not with flair, but you don't soon forget her.
DS5: Terrie, who plays our assistant chief security officer. The player joined in the middle of the first battle for DS5 and was thrown in the deep end. This time round, they are not only getting involved in the battle again, but bringing on a Vulcan linguist who is adding more to the station's story—and will add to our upcoming diplomatic talks and to our counselor's soul-searching about being Vulcan.
Area 51: Ontario: Kat & Missouri: Nick
Ontario: Kat. Xavier has taken the sim by storm. It's not the number of posts, it's the way the character has come in. They're quirky, conflicted, and lovable. They also bring an interesting backstory with both Xavier and the new head nurse who will drive the doctor nuts.
Missouri: Nick D. Nick, who plays our CMO, has not been shy about writing his character's aversion to AI. As such, it is providing I-402 quite the uphill battle in getting the crew of the Missouri to trust her.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal: David & Meridian: Matty Plaajes
Ark Royal: David aka our CMO Dr. Castiel Johnson. This month he got out three posts, one of which is my Post of the Month nomination. He also proactively started an arc with me, introducing a completely unpredicted health complication into the life of our Captain. Very creative work, my friend!
Meridian: Lt. Commander Matty Plaajes (Curzon Bennett) This was tough, but I feel that he has been very helpful in helping to get the flow of the sim back on track.
Area 51: Herodotus: Howie & Astrea: Xalanth
Herodotus: As the CO is away, I'm going to nominate him this month.
Howie (Thorrin) is a great game master. he always listens to suggestions from his crew and encourages character development between missions. Even in mission posts, he allows room for creativity while helping to develop the story. While he drives to and from work, he'll be in voice on Discord and will occasionally brainstorm mission ideas with his senior staff. He makes his players feel like they're truly a part of the sim and story.
Astrea: Xalanth continues to step up and help fill in some of what I am missing with my XO and 2XO both being on soft LOA’s at the moment. He’s starting joint posts, and coming up with side plot ideas. He’s a great asset to the sim and story.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: DSK9 & USS Artemis
DSK9: Certifying, Part 2: Getting to Know You The Right Way (https://dsk9.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/54)

Kind of a take on a lighthouse keeper. It's moody and lonely. Really enjoyed this piece from one of our new writers.

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Fenrir & Hecate & Thunderbird
Fenrir: Lieutenant JG Riaothren (Ren) ch'Shaorhs has been exceptional this month, involved in several posts and showing the range of a man who has taken on his dead husband’s little brother as a dependent. Ren’s character scope and depth has truly shone this month, establishing him as a much loved character on the sim.
Hecate: Lieutenant Marques Hunt. I loved the background post on his character and family, showing the two responses possible to Klingon aggression during the 23rd century.
Thunderbird: Jen Chapman for her excellent work and writing as Dr. Patrick Ryan. With a mission that has resulted in a medical crisis situation, Jen has shown her writing chops.
Area 51: Jane Addams & Tokyo
Jane Addams: Bill as Lieutenant Micheal Taggart for his character work of having a Betazoid, and empath thrown into all this chaos with a whirlwind of emotion.
Tokyo: Dave - Dave has pulled off some fantastic writing this month as reflected in my post of the Month nomination.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Artemis & Deep Space 5
Artemis: For this month I would like to nominate a group of people. Commander Mariko Tao, Lieutenant Johnathan Corwin, Lieutenant Vincent Zandrell, and Cassandra Frost. This group helped me get through a particularly tricky post. Even going as far as accepting the deletion and restart of the post three times. However, we did get it right and the post stands as one of the best in the game thus far.
DS5: This is tough. Several players have been key in moving the story forward and in helping plot the battle. Cynthia, Chris, Stuart, and Bryan have been especially helpful this month. Cynthia, as the new XO, has been looking at some past posts and talking to people to help us mov forward. Chris, who plays the Marine CO, has also helped with continuity and in giving us information in and out of character to wrap the old post and move forward. Stuart, the chief counselor, was part of the rebellion on the station and has helped organize and write the station's preparations for battle. Bryan, as the chief of security, has also been helpful moving forward.
The battle connects the old with the new. However, most of the key players from before are no longer on the sim and most of the current crew is new, so this makes it more difficult to go from the destruction of Deep Space 5 to sending a team going back in time to repair the sabotage and bring in a handful of starships to help defend the station in order to save the system and the quadrant. Connecting just enough pieces to make the story fit with so many changes has been made much easier with the help of these four.
Area 51: Astrea & No Way Home
Astrea: Jezra Siv - Jezra has been great about creating some temporary characters to fill in some roles in stories, jumping in with tags, and getting some posts started and jumping in to help with other players and their ideas. I’ve really appreciated their initiative in keeping others engaged in motivated this year, and especially this month. (Whoa, stats.)
No Way Home: Jeff – He has thrown himself into his characters and has put out more posts than others due to his belief that this game can thrive.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal & Unicorn
Ark Royal: "Extraction" (https://arkroyal.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/17)
Unicorn: “Planetside Mobile Medical Unit" (https://unicorn.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/95)

Theta Fleet welcomes the Ark Royal to Task Force 23.
“There will be no peace as long as Kirk lives,”
The galaxy was watching closely when Klingon Ambassador Kamarag addressed the Federation Council, where he promised a continuation of hostilities unless his demands for justice were met.
Four years have passed since then, and true to the ambassador’s word, the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire remain in a tense state of Cold War.
It has become the responsibility of Starfleet to defend Federation space from Klingon aggression and prevent the Klingon Empire from gaining more influence among non-aligned states.
In Sector 262, at the distant linear edge of the Organian Neutral Zone, the Klingons have made progress in courting independent powers, threatening the power balance and opening an avenue for invasion. Even worse, Starfleet Intelligence has picked up evidence of advanced weapons research and development taking place in the region.
In response to the growing Klingon threat, Starfleet Command had dispatched the Constitution (refit) class starship USS Ark Royal to Sector 262. Her mission: to wave the flag, to counter Klingon influence in the region, and investigate the Intelligence reports.

MARCH 2025 THETA FLEET AWARDS
First, a disclaimer. I like ties. It's easy to have two awards for each category because there are always great nominations. But this month was especially difficult. For the Unit of Distinction, we use a range as one player in one post can often mean the difference between a gold and a silver award. So, if it's close, it's a tied. This month, there were a LOT of ties. We think it's awesome!
UNIT OF DISTINCTION
Task Force 23
Gold: DSK9
Silver: Deep Space 5 & Hecate & Warbler
Bronze: Thunderbird & Artemis & Unicorn & Calypso & Ark Royal
Area 51
Gold: Myogi & SB109 & Missouri & Arcadia & Valkyrie
Silver: Tokyo & Astrea
Bronze: Jane Addams & Ontario & Second Star & Whisper
WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Hecate: ShadedGrace & Thunderbird: Lieutenants Malbrooke, Baas, Ryan, Trynn and Knight
Hecate: Lieutenant JG Gianna De Luca – a capable and versatile writer, SG is always ready with a plethora of ideas and characters for both mission, and non-mission related posts.
Thunderbird: for their part in the away team (see: "Negotiations" https://thunderbird.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/110)
Area 51: Astrea: Xalanth & Jane Addams: Lt. H'iri
Astrea: Xalanth has been taking initiative in starting some side plots for character development and helping keep the writing going, even while some of the Sim's usual story-drivers have been less present while they take care of RL issues. I appreciate the consistent creativity coming from this writer, and the sometimes seemingly randomness of ideas even in our slower months.
Jane Addams: Lt. H'iri (Discord: stuartcollis) -- here's an interesting character. The Cait who broke the Captain's heart in his youth, rescued from the attack on Earth, and made the ship's Chief of Operations. I love the balance between awkwardness and a need to be efficient/useful. See, for example: https://www.janeaddams.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/23
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Ark Royal: Ieu & Deep Space 5: Chris
Ark Royal: Lieutenant Megosho Gehente - In this first month of the USS Ark Royal, Ieu was most helpful in my efforts to get the ship up and running. I had a player that I could easily go to with questions. And his enthusiasm at the start offered a useful confidence boost.
DS5: He plays businessman Geral Lasuma and Nicholas Means, the Marine CO. Both characters have been heavily involved in preparing the station and planet for the pending attack and both have brought great ideas and suggestions for improving conditions on both the station and planet that will give the other characters more to do and get involved with on the sim. He's also been a great help in figuring out how to coordinate the pending attack.
Chris is invaluable to the sim and is always a joy to write with. We look forward to what he brings to the next phase of the sim's development.
Area 51: Missouri: Jesse & Valkyrie: Thomas Stockel
Missouri: Jesse. As a blind person, Jesse's perspective is rather unique, and he brings that experience to the table. Both in helping me make the Missouri website ADA compliant, and through his unique character, Katrina Chance. In a universe where most contemporary disabilities have been dealt with, Jesse has come up with a new method of portraying disability in the 25th century in a way that's tasteful and compelling.
Valkyrie: Thomas Stockel playing Devin Hadenbeer. This month Thomas jumped where needed and repeatedly made himself available for posts
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Artemis & Warbler
Artemis: What Dreams May Haunt by Captain Marc Kidd & Lieutenant Commander Corin Layal - In this post our JAG officer has a nightmare where they are in the hellish Porchet Labor Camp on Bajor during the Occupation. This camp is overseen by Gul Vamcet. I would like to make a warning as this post contains some explicit and perhaps trigger causing events. It is exceptionally well written and shows the horrendous conditions during the Occupation. (https://artemis.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/278)
Warbler: I could not pick just one, so I chose these two because they are so intertwined
"Meeting Mrs. McEntyre" (https://warbler.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/2)
"Midnight Talks and a Plate of Cookies" (https://warbler.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/13)
These two posts show the journey Jo McEntyre is on and the struggles of their home life.
Area 51: Herodotus & Ontario & Whisper
Herodotus: "Timeless Introductions" by Captain Thorrin and Lieutenant Commander Zosia - In this post two people from races that are considered timeless discuss what it means to see time change around them. (https://herodotus.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/96)
Ontario: "Spider Lilies: Content with Commitment" (https://ontario.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/305)
Whisper: “The Unchosen One" (https://whisper.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/1)
- The post to start it all. For us as viewers, being chosen to become a Jedi sounds fantastic and amazing. This post though covers something that rarely gets addressed. What happens to those that don’t pass trials, that aren’t chosen by a master? After years of training and discipline. What becomes of those younglings?

The Starship Warbler is an active participant in Starfleet Academy's Preparatory Program, an auxiliary arm of the academy overseen by Professor Izzy Schröder, Commanding Officer of the Warbler.
The program itself has existed for years in previous incarnations, but following the Dominion War, the number of applicants to Starfleet Academy has dropped sharply. Facing a steep service decline, the most recent program director, Izzy Schröder was given the opportunity to prove herself with an ambitious new direction that takes Federation youth out of the classrooms and into deep space!
The Warbler has settle in Task Force 23. You can find her website under the SIMMS tab.
March 14, 2025
Theta Fleet is pleased to welcome The Grey Whisperer to Area 51.
Under the leadership of Emperor Palpatine, the Imperial Senate has passed the Imperial Defense Recruitment Bill. Gone are the clone troopers, now replaced by the storm troopers. As the Emperor controls through fear and restrictions, many worlds fall to Imperial rule. Some within the Imperial Senate, however, are secretly working against Palpatine. Whispers begin about an alliance under the leadership of Senators Bail Organa and Mon Mothma.
Across the galaxy from the deep core to beyond the outer rim, worlds are resisting being subject to the Empire. Where some of these worlds may crumble and be leveled by Palpatine's forces, others maintain a hold on their independence. Along with these planets, individuals band together to help the alliance. Among these is the crew of the Grey Whisper.

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: DSK9: Andrew
February was almost a month without any activity at all. However, Andrew was the one to give the sim the shot of activity it needed for the month by ensuring our post we were working on got published in a timely manner.
Area 51: Herodotus: Lieutenant Commander Tarian Aloria
For producing a few great posts among them are two backstory posts that gave us a glimpse into this complex character who will manage everything dealing with time for this ship. I look forward to what is coming next.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Artemis: Lieutenant Christopher Blake
Lieutenant Blake is simply put an extra set of eyes and ears behind the scenes on the Artemis. They are quick to offer advice and insight into certain situations that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. They have gone beyond being a player and into the realm of a pillar of the community that is the Artemis.
Area 51:
Astrea: ShadedGrace/Eirly : My second officer notices all of the player milestones like anniversaries and posting levels, and brings them up with happy celebrations in our discord chat. I love that she brings that energy to the sim, because I am not so great at it. She’s been another consistent, top contributor, and we wouldn’t be where we are without her.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Fenrir & Hecate
Fenrir: This post shows the lower decks of a Starship, as well as the awkwardness of meeting new people in a professional setting, even if you both are aware you are new to things.

WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Hecate: Voz
Commander Vin Salvatore, Executive Officer. Instrumental in getting the sim moving again, and has thrown their character in at the deep end, making quite the splash with vim and verve.
Area 51: Astrea: Nash/lee_d1701: Nash has been contributing to a lot of interesting posts lately, including his conflict with the chief intelligence officer, uncovering suspicious activity outside of Freecloud, and how he leans on his family to cope with stress from work. These posts contribute to mission progression and the development of not just his own character, but other characters in the sim.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Fenrir: Mimi
As Lieutenant Commander Daniel Masters, Mimi has been absolutely incredible this month (and all months truthfully), keeping posts entertaining and showcasing their characters while also allowing others to shine. On discord, Mimi has always time for a chat and some funny memes and they're such an important part of the sim, as well as getting people involved with offering posts.
Area 51: Herodotus: Commander Marisa Sandoval.
I am putting my Executive Officer up for this award as without them I think I may have tossed in the towel on this game. It is hard to get a niche game running to the point of most sims and this one is no different. However, Sandoval guides, and pushes and even metaphorically slaps when needed. They are a fantastic writer, and player and I can honestly say the Herodotus would not exist without them.
POST OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Artemis & Unicorn
Artemis: "The Diagnosis" (https://artemis.uss-pioneer.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/258)
In this post the medical staff informs the over stressed Captain that their inmate is dying. To make matters worse he is dying from a tumor that is actually making him remorseful. An interesting post that brings the question of justice vs compassion.
Unicorn: “Meatball Medicine” (https://unicorn.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/84)
Area 51: SB109 & Tokyo
SB109: “Rescued” series, by Stephen, Austen, and Brad
Reason: The “Rescued” posts were a fast-moving, very exciting series following several ships involved in a series of attacks from the Second Sons, a pirate group led by the menacing Klingon H'tek, and the rescue mission overseen by SB109.

Theta Fleet is pleased to welcome the USS Meridian, a Columbia-class starship, to Task Force 23.
It is the year 2167, still in the early years of the newly formed United Federation of Planets. The USS Meridian a Columbia class starship leads the way in exploration as Starfleet pushes out further among the stars to find new worlds and hopefully expand.
But all is not as peaceful as they would like. The Klingon Empire has concerns about the Federation, which they have determined to be a threat which continues to get stronger with each new world that joins. There are also threats of piracy as civilian ships push farther out with trade and science expeditions.

Area 51
Gold: USS Myogi & USS Tokyo
Silver: USS Astrea & SB109
Bronze: USS Concord & USS Herodotus
WRITER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Unicorn: Major Iria & DSK9: Michael
Unicorn: Iria, for quality of posts, for bringing a very detailed and accurate background to our new Assistant Chief Medical Officer.
DSK9: Michael (Rebecca Bluegarden) - Since taking over as XO, Michael has gone out of his way to help keep activity up. If it weren't for his efforts, DSK9 wouldn't have been able to come back from the dead like it has.
Area 51: Astrea: Xalanth & Ontario: Jared
Astrea: Xalanth has been writing with both his characters in multiple storylines to keep the momentum going in our mission stories, while also developing the characters’ family life and background as well. Xalanth is always a great sport with keeping pace with whatever writers he’s working with at the time which has been super helpful in the flexible-paced sim.
Ontario: Jared plays the chief of security who not only has the difficult task of protecting the away team from whatever creature attacked the scientists, but from each other as they bicker about what needs to be done. I'm not sure if the chief will end up shooting the predator or the team.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Task Force 23: Calypso: Nick & Victory: Lieutenant Katherine "Kit" Vulpes
Calypso: Nick. It was his idea to stir things up by bringing a former character back to the sim—one who had once been married to a Marine still on board. To add more drama to the mix, Cameron is still in love with his ex-wife. This promises to bring tension to the Marines at a time when they're gearing up to go after mercenaries.
Victory: Lieutenant Katherine "Kit" Vulpes she has been doing what she can to help move the storyline along. She actively seeks to engage people in posts.
Area 51: SB109: Brad & Arcadia: Ruth
SB109: Brad has taken a lot of initiative in his role as XO. His posts and tagging are frequent, his attitude is very upbeat, and he continues to write even while injured!
Arcadia: Ruth - It's hard to find anyone who's more excited to write and be so completely flexible to turn idea into a post.

December 15, 2024
We are pleased to welcome two new sims to Theta Fleet:
USS Valkyrie:
The year is 2400 and a new century has dawned. The Borg are a fading consideration, Romulan relations are still improving, the Cardassians are still causing trouble, and the Klingons are, well..., still Klingons. With Federation's return to its core mission of exploration, they are once again answering the call of the unknown. As Picard once said, “...the unknown is what brings us out here”.
USS Iroquois:
The year is 2401, two years after the Borg, led by Dr Jurati, the Borg queen, was granted provisional membership in the federation. Now the USS Iroquois has been tasked to venture through the transwarp conduit, discover what lies on the other side, and attempt to make peaceful first contact.
You can find them both in Area 51 under the SIMS tab.
