The main page of Theta Fleet can't keep all the news, so we archive it here. This has all the news from January 2019 on. (There is far too much from 2010 to 2018 to copy over. Sorry.)

September Theta Fleet Awards

Unit of Distinction

Task Force 23:

    Gold: Relay Station Bellwether

    Silver: USS Calypso

    Bronze:

Area 51:

    Gold: USS Standing Bear

Silver: USS Tokyo & Starbase 109

Bronze: USS Wolff & USS Pandora

Writer of the Month

Task Force 23:

Calypso: Stuart, who plays Bela, the hug-addicted counselor. As busy as he's been, he manages to find time to tag in, and it's appreciated.

Area 51:

SB109: Austen (Renato Solis), for planning and contributing to six posts this month, several of which were parts of two lengthy story-arcs. Other contributors to this post were: Joe (Andrew Eberstark), Christina (Baro Alora), Susan (Reon Velasquez), and Chantal (Paul Graves).

Player of the Month

Task Force 23:

Ranger: Arie, who plays T'kaarch. Chief Science Officer and now First Officer. The sim has been slow as most of the crew is dealing with real life, but Arie has been great about keeping the posts going and recruiting.

Area 51:

Standing: Linsey - Kat and I both have been terribly busy this month, and Linsey as Second Officer has helped shoulder command responsibilities while we have been occupied. Finding a good XO is difficult, but getting a Second Officer that can assume command and 'run the show' that's nearly impossible.

Post of the Month

Task Force 23:

Bellwether: "Macchiatos & Misfortune" (http://bellwether.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/17) When an average morning turns less than average with a small unexpected visitation by Ferengi.

Area 51:

Wolff: "Part of the pack" (https://www.usswolff.com/nova2/index.php/sim/viewpost/573)

Third Quarter Fleet Awards

Task Force 23

    SIM: Bellwether

A small relay station and a tiny crew forced to be creative in the cramped spaces. It's a great concept, and a great crew.

    CO: Zephyr: Li Antos

Antos began as the chief of security, then became the XO. Now, with the CO stepping down, he has become the CO and managed a smooth and adroit transition. The sim is doing well under his command.

    XO: Hyperion: Mira Jayde

While the CO has been dealing with real life, the XO took a part of the story arch and expanded it into a series of posts that involve the original crew who are now stranded on a planetoid, giving the players two different sides of the mission to play with.

    Writer: Calypso & Resolution: Stuart

Stuart creates unique characters with interesting quirks and then writes them well, finding ways to incorporate these quirks into every post, giving others some fun opportunities for interaction and adding zest to the posts themselves.

    Player: Ranger: Arie

Arie is always willing to step into a post and help out as needed. His PC is quirky, funny, and intelligent. He plays his science officer well, and he has been instrumental in several story arcs. Now as the XO, he is stepping up to help with advertising and story development. He's a great asset to the CO and the sim.

Area 51

Area 51:

    SIM: Tokyo

The Tokyo has had problems both in and out of character, but there's no denying that the crew has embraced the missions and the opportunities for character development to create a complex tapestry that is the world of the Tokyo.

    CO: Wolff: Taliserra Tigran

The CO is the heart and soul of the sim and Taliserra embodies this. The CO is actively involved in the writing and the players, working hard to make the sim a fun place to write.

    XO: Unity Station:

The XO joined the sim, and then the CO had to deal with RL issues, leaving the XO with a new crew and no direction. But the XO has stepped up, working with each player to help bring the characters aboard and work with them on settling in and developing their character. The XO is also actively involved on the Discord channel, making everyone feel like they're part of the group.

    Writer: Ontario: Crew

The missions have something for everyone, but most of the activity on the Ontario revolves around the crew and their personal lives. The character development (and subsequent chaos) is delightful and the writing is excellent. From a Chief Science Officer who is determined to create something remarkable to an archaeologist who has no time for anything or anyone to a pilot who has her own demons to overcome, these writers are top notch.

    Player: Standing Bear: Linsey

Linsey is the second officer on the sim. She has stepped up this quarter to help both the CO and XO as they deal with real life issues and the death of a close friend and fellow simmer. Linsey has done an excellent job keeping the sim going, working with other writers, and supporting the senior staff.
