2025 THETA FLEET AWARDS

First, a disclaimer. I like ties. It's easy to have two awards for each category because there are always great nominations. But this month was especially difficult. For the Unit of Distinction, we use a range as one player in one post can often mean the difference between a gold and a silver award. So, if it's close, it's a tied. This month, there were a LOT of ties. We think it's awesome!

UNIT OF DISTINCTION

Task Force 23

            Gold: DSK9

Silver: Deep Space 5 & Hecate & Warbler

Bronze: Thunderbird & Artemis & Unicorn & Calypso & Ark Royal

Area 51

            Gold: Myogi & SB109 & Missouri & Arcadia & Valkyrie

            Silver: Tokyo & Astrea

Bronze: Jane Addams & Ontario & Second Star & Whisper

WRITER OF THE MONTH

Task Force 23: Hecate: ShadedGrace & Thunderbird: Lieutenants Malbrooke, Baas, Ryan, Trynn and Knight

Hecate: Lieutenant JG Gianna De Luca – a capable and versatile writer, SG is always ready with a plethora of ideas and characters for both mission, and non-mission related posts.

Thunderbird: for their part in the away team (see: "Negotiations" https://thunderbird.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/110)

Area 51: Astrea: Xalanth & Jane Addams: Lt. H'iri

Astrea: Xalanth has been taking initiative in starting some side plots for character development and helping keep the writing going, even while some of the Sim's usual story-drivers have been less present while they take care of RL issues. I appreciate the consistent creativity coming from this writer, and the sometimes seemingly randomness of ideas even in our slower months.

Jane Addams: Lt. H'iri (Discord: stuartcollis) -- here's an interesting character. The Cait who broke the Captain's heart in his youth, rescued from the attack on Earth, and made the ship's Chief of Operations. I love the balance between awkwardness and a need to be efficient/useful. See, for example: https://www.janeaddams.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/23

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Task Force 23: Ark Royal: Ieu & Deep Space 5: Chris

Ark Royal: Lieutenant Megosho Gehente - In this first month of the USS Ark Royal, Ieu was most helpful in my efforts to get the ship up and running. I had a player that I could easily go to with questions. And his enthusiasm at the start offered a useful confidence boost.

DS5: He plays businessman Geral Lasuma and Nicholas Means, the Marine CO. Both characters have been heavily involved in preparing the station and planet for the pending attack and both have brought great ideas and suggestions for improving conditions on both the station and planet that will give the other characters more to do and get involved with on the sim. He's also been a great help in figuring out how to coordinate the pending attack.

Chris is invaluable to the sim and is always a joy to write with. We look forward to what he brings to the next phase of the sim's development.

Area 51: Missouri: Jesse & Valkyrie: Thomas Stockel

Missouri: Jesse. As a blind person, Jesse's perspective is rather unique, and he brings that experience to the table. Both in helping me make the Missouri website ADA compliant, and through his unique character, Katrina Chance. In a universe where most contemporary disabilities have been dealt with, Jesse has come up with a new method of portraying disability in the 25th century in a way that's tasteful and compelling.

Valkyrie: Thomas Stockel playing Devin Hadenbeer. This month Thomas jumped where needed and repeatedly made himself available for posts

POST OF THE MONTH

Task Force 23: Artemis & Warbler

Artemis: What Dreams May Haunt by Captain Marc Kidd & Lieutenant Commander Corin Layal - In this post our JAG officer has a nightmare where they are in the hellish Porchet Labor Camp on Bajor during the Occupation. This camp is overseen by Gul Vamcet. I would like to make a warning as this post contains some explicit and perhaps trigger causing events. It is exceptionally well written and shows the horrendous conditions during the Occupation. (https://artemis.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/278)

Warbler: I could not pick just one, so I chose these two because they are so intertwined

"Meeting Mrs. McEntyre" (https://warbler.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/2)

"Midnight Talks and a Plate of Cookies" (https://warbler.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/13)

These two posts show the journey Jo McEntyre is on and the struggles of their home life.

            Area 51: Herodotus & Ontario & Whisper

Herodotus: "Timeless Introductions" by Captain Thorrin and Lieutenant Commander Zosia - In this post two people from races that are considered timeless discuss what it means to see time change around them. (https://herodotus.uss-pioneer.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/96)

Ontario: "Spider Lilies: Content with Commitment" (https://ontario.harperhold.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/305)

Whisper: “The Unchosen One" (https://whisper.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/viewpost/1)

- The post to start it all. For us as viewers, being chosen to become a Jedi sounds fantastic and amazing. This post though covers something that rarely gets addressed. What happens to those that don’t pass trials, that aren’t chosen by a master? After years of training and discipline. What becomes of those younglings?
