Description
The Core fighter, is meant to be a self-contained and effective fighter. Though lightly armed, it is still capable of taking on an interception and denial role while its agility allows it to engage in difficult scenarios. The primary issue with creating a modular design is the size of the fighter and the modules that it would be attached to. To that end, I designed a smaller core fighter. The fighter itself contained a micro matter/anti-matter reactor as well as two fusion reactors to power the necessary equipment. This all fits behind the cockpit and is the main power source for not only the core fighter, but also the modules that attach to it. Unless otherwise stated, there is only one matter/anti-matter reactor onboard the fighter with additional fusion generators added through the modules themselves.

As the core fighter is meant to be fitted with modules to change its mission profile, the wings, nacelles and impulse drive are removed, leaving the cockpit, reactors and deflector dish. Once removed, the core itself is snugly slotted into the cavity at the front of the modules, with the now exposed connections in the rear connected to the module and functioning as control conduits. This effectively removes the torpedo magazine and launcher from the core unit itself, but leaves the pulse phasers.
